What Are Stone Pavers For?

Stone pavers are a type of modular natural stone, sometimes made of concrete, but not completely. They’re perfect for making pathways and have tons of freedom to match the perfect design for your home. They make paths that move around your home, through your yard, and around your garden.

This is the perfect thing about being modular, they give landscaping projects that much more freedom. But what kind of projects are stone pavers for? Not everyone realizes how much they can do with these pavers, and we want to inform them.

WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH STONE PAVERS?

THEY MAKE PERFECT DRIVEWAYS

Driveways are one of the simplest and most common projects people use stone pavers for. Rather than use asphalt, you can lay down stone pavers of varying sizes to mold into the perfect path from the road to your house.

Not only do pavers have a more welcoming and colorful appearance, but they also have several mechanical benefits over asphalt. Driveways made of stone pavers can last up to 25 to 50 years, as long as you maintain them by cleaning, replacing, and caring for any singular pavers that break.

Asphalt driveways can last up to 25 to 30 years, but only in certain areas where the soil is healthy and level. This means in most places, they actually last 15 to 20 years on average. To repair them is even more difficult as well. Asphalt isn’t modular, you can’t take pieces out and replace them. You can fill cracks, leaving ugly proof of the damage, or you redo your entire driveway.

By comparison, even if you were to use the most expensive stone pavers we offer, asphalt will cost you more in the long run and won’t look half as good.

GOOD FOR MAKING PATHWAYS

Stone pavers are good to walk on too. If you need a pathway from your driveway to your door, to your backyard, or around your garden, you want to use stone pavers. You can use pure concrete, but not only is that not as safe, but it also has a lot of the same problems as asphalt.

The process of laying down concrete is similar to asphalt in that it has to be on flattened, stable ground, with good soil and water drainage. When that’s not the case, it breaks down faster over time, and this leaves you with fewer options on how to create a path.

While drainage is important for maintaining stone pavers, they aren’t as affected by poor drainage and are far easier to repair and upkeep. Not to mention, it’s safer to put down pavers than to leave cement around your home as it hardens. All you need is your child, pet, or guest to come in and suddenly someone has ruined it or possibly gotten hurt. Who’s to say what the chances are that some random animal puts their print into it. You don’t have to worry about this with stone pavers.

MAKE THE PERFECT PATIO

What’s the point of having a pathway if it doesn’t lead to anything? Patios are where everyone congregates together, where you have cookouts, parties, or casual hangouts when the weather is nice. You could use concrete, or you could use something that you don’t have to wait to dry.

With stone pavers, you won’t have a patio that looks like everyone else’s. Even if your neighbors also used stone pavers, there’s so much more freedom to design your layout than with 100% concrete, where you will likely go with what placement will last long.

And most importantly, stone pavers just look so much better. With their many colors, aesthetics is another reason to consider stone pavers instead across all projects.
