4 Benefits Of Artificial Grass
Artificial grass has been around since 1961, but it hasn’t caught on around the world for a few reasons. Reasons that aren’t so true anymore, pertaining to its appearance, upkeep, and ecological effects. Artificial grass has come a long way, with the benefits outweighing the few benefits of a natural grass lawn.
#1. ARTIFICIAL GRASS LOOKS ATTRACTIVE ALL YEAR LONG
For starters, one of the immediate benefits of artificial grass is that it’s attractive all year round. In Arizona, temperatures threaten to scorch our lawns on a regular basis. It’ll leave brown patches all over the natural lawns people fight so hard to upkeep, with some lawns turning completely brown within two months. Artificial grass just gets hot during the summer months, but it never dies out, burns, or browns. It looks good all year long.
And even when the temperature is fine, you never have to worry about your lawn growing uneven, especially if you have any trees that add shade to your yard. Artificial grass will be the same height for years. It makes for a truly attractive lawn all year long.
#2. YOU GET A LESS WASTEFUL LAWN
As we’re all trying to reduce our carbon footprint, having a lawn that never needs watering goes a long way. The average lawn is 15’x15’, typically filled with bermudagrass. To properly water it, it takes over 5000 gallons per year. That’s an insane amount of water to save.
Not to mention, an artificial lawn doesn’t need anything like pesticides or fertilizers. These items are known to have long-term effects on people’s bodies if they’re subjected to them for long periods of time. The nervous, reproductive, and endocrine systems are the most affected by it. While most people aren’t around it or directly inhaling/eating enough pesticides or fertilizers to be affected, why take the risk at all? A benefit of artificial lawns is that there is never a need for things like harmful chemicals.
#3. DON’T NEED TO UPKEEP ARTIFICIAL GRASS
The first benefit of artificial grass is that you don’t have to upkeep it anymore. Sweeping it from time to time is good, but you don’t have to regularly mow the lawn or skim the sides to take care of it. It’s the same size, has the same borders, and doesn’t grow any weeds ever. Once you install your artificial lawn, it’s the way it will look until you decide you want to upgrade.
Never worry about mowing the lawn again.
#4. PESTS AVOID YOUR LAWN
Do you know who hates your artificial lawn? Pests. There’s nothing for a wild critter in artificial grass. Whether it be a snake, a mole, or even a squirrel, the most they would do is walk over your artificial lawn. They wouldn’t burrow holes or destroy the lining because there’s nothing they would want.
Many animals find food and shelter in the lawns and gardens we keep around our homes, but if you remove that from the equation, you can keep animals and pests away.
